Qualify your Compact Models

Device Modeling Solutions: Explore, enhance and reuse your existing or industry-standard models.

It seems you rarely start from scratch.  How many times have you inherited someone else’s device model?  What about extending complex industry-standard models? Learn how ModLyng™ can be used to explore existing models and augment them rapidly through use of model effects.

With ModLyng, you can:

Reuse and share in house developed device models,
Learn and extend industry standard compact models (PSP, MEXTRAM, BSIM),
Rapidly develop new models and effects from scratch or existing models, and
Evaluate models before simulation through ModLyng dependency analyses and graphing.

Import and Extend Existing Models

With ModLyng you can easily import and begin understanding models created by yourself or others.  ModLyng supports import of HDL models from Verilog-A/MS and VHDL-AMS, from simple analog to complex semiconductor models.  For each imported model ModLyng generates a large-signal topology, preserves all detected comments and attaches them to the ModLyng design.

ModLyng automatically renders topologies for imported models. Drag, move and annotate to improve understanding!

Model exploration is powered by navigators and the powerful dynamic search capability.

Once the model is in the tool, it may be saved and shared using Lynguent’s unique CMX XML file format.  XML allows ModLyng models to be easily shared and archived with any standard revision control system.

Enhance Complex Compact Models

Need to add self-heating to your existing device model?  How about a new junction capacitance?  ModLyng allows you to compose model effects which may be reused in multiple device models.  By mixing the power of system-level signal-flow modeling and traditional code and equations, ModLyng allows you to rapidly compose and apply effects to your newly created or imported model.  Or, use a Lynguent-provided toolkit models as your base, such as the PSP, Mextram or BSIM4 transistor models.

Adding new effects to such models is as simple as drag and drop!  With whitebox models there is no need to macromodel in your Process Delivery Kits.  Add the effects where they go; in the semiconductor device model.  Add static or dynamic effects as new equations or graphically using signal-flow style modeling.  Through the power of ModLyng export a single, flat, readable Verilog-A/AMS or VHDL-AMS model is created from this graphical picture!

Adding radiation to BSIM4: Add advanced semiconductor effects directly in the model of choice! Or, build a new PDK model in the model itself, no parameter processing in netlists!

Deploy New and Enhanced Models Across Simulators

ModLyng supports export of multiple HDL languages and even language subsets.  For example, ModLyng can automatically generate, from a single model, codes specific for Standard Verilog-A 1.0, Verilog-AMS 2.2, Verilog for Spectre 5.1 or 6.1 (and greater), and even the ADMS model compiler.

Qualify Models Across Simulators

Is your new compact model correct?  Is it compatible with existing blackbox solutions?  ModLyng and Lynguent® support the Compact Model Council Quality Assurance (CMC-QA) toolkit for rigorous model implementation validation.  Lynguent Expert Services gives you value-added features including automatic report generation support for your commercial, internal or custom simulator.

Evaluate Models Before Simulation

Developing a new equation for a diode current?  Want to understand a device threshold voltage?  Rather than resort to many parametric analyses and all of the associate simulator overhead, ModLyng allows you to graph any model equations directly within the tool.  Quickly see the dependence of any parameter, variable or constant on model quantities in a dynamic view!

By providing a method for easy and rapid import, understanding and augmentation of complex models, Lynguent enables you to deliver enhanced models to multiple simulators and design flows, and do so in a shorter amount of time.
