A Brief History of Lynguent
Lynguent was founded in 2001 by industry veteran, Dr. Martin Vlach. After many years at Analogy, which he co-founded and supplied the technical vision, Martin saw that AMS design teams were still saddled with ineffective tools and design flows. Worse, the poor support that these engineers received frequently resulted in product development delays or costly design "turns" after designs were already in production. This was true both for ICs and electronic-based systems. With his experience and expertise in AMS modeling & simulation tools, Martin knew he could help alleviate these problems and began working on a solution.
Meanwhile, Dr. Alan Mantooth, a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Arkansas and a former colleague of Martin's at Analogy, saw similar issues and began to develop an integrated development environment for modeling in his lab at the university. In 2003 Martin and Alan decided to join forces. Lynguent licensed the U. of Arkansas technology and is now using it as the technical underpinnings of ModLyng, Lynguent's first product.
Lynguent soon received a number of federal grants to develop its modeling technology. Barbara Bakken joined the team in 2004 to run the business side of the company. In early 2005, we created Lynguent s.r.o. in Prague, now managed by Eva Solarová. Jim Holmes joined the team in 2006 to lend his modeling experience and expertise to our applications consulting group.
